I acquired MISS BLUE in 2009. It was built of wood in 1910 by L. E. Fry of Clayton, New York. It was restored in 2006 by Harry Card of Florida.

MISS BLUE is essentially a flat water boat but has handled three footers on occasion very well, Albeit my knuckles were a bit white! She has only about 8" or 9" of freeboard amidships. With the amount of wood shown, she will travel about twenty miles. She draws about two feet of water loaded. She has run over 1000 safe miles since July, 2009. She runs essentially on the Ohio River system near Cincinnati. (All text by owner - Thank You Tom!)

Boiler has copper tubes and steel drums, operates against a 150 psi safety valve. MISS BLUE burns wood or charcoal. She runs OK on charcoal but clinkers form with the cheaper grades. Never really tried coal.

I use water from the river. Boiler holds about 2 1/2 gallons of water. If wood of the proper size...about the size of your fist, or less...is used it runs like the wind...bursts of seven mph.

Engine is a simple with nearly all ball bearing construction and operates non-condensing.
