Phaeton was completed in 1983, and since then has steamed every year except two, covering some 10,000 kilometres in England, Ireland and France. Although only 16 feet in length (5.8m) she is beamy and can comfortably carry 400kg of coal and camping equipment allowing us to sleep on board during voyages lasting a week.
The boiler is a twin drum water tube based on a Thames Steam Launch design, and the engine is a v-twin with Stuart Turner 5A cylinders driving onto an enclosed crank with spiral keyway reverse.
If you look carefull at the pictures you will see that the boiler which used to be fore and aft now is positioned at right angles to the ship.
All the best
