Emma was one of the last small boats that was allowed to stay in the historic halls of the 'Deutschen Industrie-Werke' Berlin Spandau. From the winter season of 2007/08, only the excursion boats of the White Fleet Berlin were housed or repaired there.
Fortunately, a new hall had opened 'around the corner'. It was opened by a scrap dealer who had fulfilled his life's dream with this shipyard. A Tatra mobile crane that had seen better days was used for crane operations. I had to wait two days until the engine finally started.
Emma's inboard condenser eliminates the need for cooling pipes in the keel area, which are otherwise at risk when lifting by crane. This means that any crane operator can lift the boat without any problems at its center of gravity. Since Emma is very narrow at 2.2 meters compared to today's usual boat shapes, the lifting straps run along the edge of the roof at a safe distance.
